Stroke Clinics

The greatest and most affordable way to pick up a few new tricks is in a group workshop setting. Even if
you already know the material, it’s not every day (and sometimes, every week) that you get to work on
very specific aspects of your stroke, kick, start, turns, or finishes, particularly in a focus group setting.
Remember – PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

I was fortunate enough to participate in these relatively often during my development years, and what
athletes will discover is an effective learning tool is working with others in the following ways:

  1. Discussion: Breaking down a lesson (or idea) and exercise by exchanging thoughts and feelings;

  2. Visually: Coaching each other by communicating what was seen, what could have done better
    based on the instructions given, and what was done right!;

  3. They’re Fun: It’s possible to make even the most difficult or boring tasks fun, and when an
    athlete is enjoying the task, they’re more likely to want to be better at it and embrace it!

My swim clinics are for all ages and abilities, but for each clinic I participate in, I take into consideration
the age and experience level for that particular session. This way, my clients can feel confident that
they’ll be with their peers and get the most out of their experience with me.
