UPCOMING CLINICS BOOK SESSION

Hey swimmers! This is coach Milo.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"How Can Swimmers Improve Their Breath Holding Capacity?"

Answer:

You must approach breath-hold training very cautiously. It should be done slowly and safely. Never practice breath-holding alone in water.
You can start at home on a couch with a stopwatch. Hold your breath until uncomfortable, stop, rest, and repeat. Over time, capacity improves. In the pool, begin with short distances like half laps and gradually increase.
Always maintain at least a 3:1 or 4:1 rest-to-work ratio. Ideally, work with a trained professional. Safety comes first.

Summary:

Breath-hold capacity should be improved slowly, safely, and never alone. Use gradual progression and adequate rest.
