Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.
Today's question is:
Swimmers should avoid specializing too early. As long as the body is still growing, abilities can change significantly.
Until around ages 15 or 16, it’s best to train all strokes and events. This builds a well-rounded foundation and allows the swimmer to discover their strengths naturally.
Once physical development stabilizes, swimmers can begin to focus more on the events that suit their body type and strengths.
Early specialization can limit long-term potential, so keeping options open is key.
Swimmers should train all strokes until around ages 15–16, then specialize based on physical development and strengths.
