Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.
Today's question is:
Top-end speed is built by training your body to move quickly. If you want to swim fast, you need to practice moving fast both in and out of the water.
Dryland exercises like fast movements and explosive drills can help develop fast-twitch muscle fibers. In the pool, you need to practice swimming at high speeds.
However, speed without control is useless. If you’re not holding water, you’re just spinning your arms and going nowhere.
So while speed training is important, it must always be paired with maintaining distance per stroke.
Top-end speed comes from training fast movements, but must be combined with strong technique and distance per stroke to be effective.
