UPCOMING CLINICS BOOK SESSION

Hey swimmers! This is coach Milo.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"Should Swimmers Still Do The One Kick Butterfly in 2026? Tips From Milo Cavic"

Answer:

The one-kick butterfly is mostly seen during the breakout stroke. When transitioning from underwater dolphin kicking into the first stroke, skipping a kick can help preserve speed.
Outside of breakouts, most elite swimmers use two kicks per cycle to maintain rhythm. The one-kick variation is situational and still evolving, but rhythm and maintaining speed off the wall are key.

Summary:

One-kick butterfly is mainly used during breakouts to preserve speed. Standard rhythm still relies on two kicks per cycle.
